    Welcome  to the The Fourth International Conference on Information Technologies in Education and Learning (ICITEL 2020), held  Virtual online at  Hangzhou, China, Dec. 26− 27, 2020.

    When Information Technologies (especial Internert) become widely used, how to use these technologies on Education and Learning comes to hot topics. ICITEL aims to bring together industrial and academic researchers to discuss hot topics and trends on Information Technologies in Education and Learning . ICITEL 2020 will focus on innovations or best practices in AI+Education, online teaching, learning, management, and administration; Internet technology design and use on Education; instructional models in online courses; online course development and instructional design; interaction in online courses; collaborative learning; usability and evaluation of online environments and portals; online communities of practice; institutional policies, standards and assessment; accessibility standards in online instruction; internationalization and cultural aspects of online classrooms; issues and trends in synchronous, asynchronous, and hybrid online learning.

    At smae time, ICNDC2020 willl be held in conjuction with ICITEL 2020. ICNDC2020 will be held to discuss topics about High performace computing and AI, 5G wireless networking, Cloud Computing , BLOCKChain Technologies, etc.

    Bio:

    Omer F. Rana is Professor of Performance Engineering at Cardiff University, with research interests in high performance distributed computing, data analysis/mining and multi-agent systems. He was formerly the deputy director of the Welsh eScience Centre and had the opportunity to interact with a number of computational scientists across Cardiff University and the UK. He is a fellow of Cardiff University’s multi-disciplinary “Data Innovation” Research Institute. Rana has contributed to specification and standardisation activities via the Open Grid Forum and worked as a software developer with London-based Marshall Bio-Technology Limited prior to joining Cardiff University, where he developed specialist software to support biotech instrumentation. He also contributed to public understanding of science, via the Wellcome Trust funded “Science Line”, in collaboration with BBC and Channel 4. Rana holds a PhD in “Neural Computing and Parallel Architectures” from Imperial College (London Univ.), an MSc in Microelectronics (Univ. of Southampton) and a BEng in Information Systems Eng. from Imperial College (London Univ.). He serves on the editorial boards (as Associate Editor) of IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems, (formerly) IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing and ACM Transactions on Internet Technology. He is a founding-member and associate editor of ACM Transactions on Autonomous & Adaptive Systems.

    Short Bio:

    Dr. Jinzhu Gao received a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from The Ohio State University in 2004. From June 2004 to August 2008, she worked at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a research associate and then the University of Minnesota, Morris, as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science. She joined the University of the Pacific (Pacific) in 2008 and is currently a Professor of Computer Science there. Her main research focus is on intelligent data visual analytics and innovative computer science education. Over the past sixteen years, Dr. Gao has been working closely with educators, researchers, application scientists and Silicon Valley technology companies to develop online data visual analytics and deep learning platforms to support collaborative science and education, mobile health, IoT data analytics, business operational visibility, and visual predicative analysis for industries. Her work has been published in top journals such as IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, IEEE Transactions on Computers, and IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications.






    Talk Title:  Innovative Computer Science Education  During Pandemic

    The use of active learning techniques has been widely used in the computer science classroom to encourage student-centered learning. However, during pandemic, most of universities have to switch to distance learning, which has greatly impacted active learning practices.In this talk, Dr. Gao will summarize the challenges faced by computer science educators during pandemic and highlight some of her work in innovative computer science education. This will include her previous work on technology-assisted active learning as well as her ongoing efforts in promoting active learning in an online learning environment during pandemic.


    Dr. Zhiming Zhao



    Zhiming Zhao obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Amsterdam (UvA) in 2004. He currently leads the research team of “quality critical applications on programmable infrastructure” in the group of System and Network Engineering (SNE) at University of Amsterdam (UvA). His research interests include advanced computing and network technologies, time critical and data intensive systems, Cloud computing, scientific workflows and software agents. He is the scientific coordinator of the EU H2020 project SWITCH (Software Workbench for interactive time critical and highly self-adaptive cloud applications www.switchproject.eu), and the leader of the “Data for Science” theme in the EU H2020 environmental science cluster project ENVRIPlus (www.envriplus.eu).

    Talk Title:  Blockchain based decentralized cloud resource management

    In this talk we will discuss blockchain technologies used to develop a decentralized cloud service market. The work is supported by the EU ARTICONF project.

    Bio

    Prof. Huang works on challenges about Cloud Computing and P2P computing, and Artificial Intelligence . He has worked on e-Science and Grid computing since the beginning of 2000’s. He was honored in Marquis Who’s Who in the World 2006, Marquis Who’s Who in the Science and Engineering 2006-2007, and Marquis Who’s Who in Asia 2006-2007 due to his achievement of proposing Virtual and Dynamic Hierarchical Architecture for e-Science and Grid and VIRGO protocols. He serves as program committee member of many international conferences. He has contributed over 100 technical papers to various conferences and refereed journals.

    Prof. Huang now is a Professor at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University (ZSTU), and founder of DSCLOUD Platform. Prior to joining ZSTU, Prof. Huang worked as a Senior Research Associate in the School of Computer Science at Cardiff University since 2004. Before working at Cardiff University, he developed many large software systems in several companies, as technical leader or department manager. He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Zhejiang University in 2003, Bachelor\'s From Nanchang University in 1982, and Master\'s from Hangzhou University in 1984.

    Dr. Haochen Hua




    Haochen Hua received the B.Sc. degree in Mathematics with Finance in 2011, and the Ph.D. degree in Mathematical Sciences in 2016, both from the University of Liverpool, Liverpool, UK. From 2016 to 2020, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Research Institute of Information Technology, Tsinghua University, Beijing, P. R. China. Since 2020, he has been an Associate Professor in the College of Energy and Electrical Engineering, Hohai University, Nanjing, P. R. China. He has published over 40 papers and has authored 3 books. His current research interests include energy Internet system modelling and optimization, optimal and robust control theory, and stochastic calculus.

    Talk Title:  AI in Integrated  Energy Service

    In order to promote the revolution of energy production and consumption, build a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system, and provide an integrated energy service based on multi-energy complementarity, extensive interconnection and interaction between supply and demand, a new generation of intelligent integrated energy system needs to be developed. However, in the scenario of multi-energy flow coupling, the intermittence of renewable energy access, the uncertainty of different types of load access, and the randomness of energy demand and scheduling will lead to the challenges of energy management in the integrated energy system. On the other hand, the development of the new generation of information and communication technology provides a solid foundation and guarantee for data collection, monitoring and transmission. In the era of big data, artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the most subversive science and technology, which has strong processing ability in computational intelligence, perceptual intelligence and cognitive intelligence. AI technology can be applied to system modelling, prediction, control and optimization of integrated energy system. This report mainly focuses on the following three aspects. Firstly, why the development of integrated energy services needs to use AI technology urgently? Secondly, the typical application scenarios of AI in integrated energy services. Thirdly, the challenges faced by the application of AI in integrated energy systems.
